The fifth edition of the Style Manual is interesting because it seeks to politicise and change many more areas of the language than just those referring to the sexes. It has several new targets- racist language, treatment of 'ethnolinguistic minorities', portrayal of people with disabilities and portrayal of people in relation to age.
