With a nightmare budget looming in view, it’s tempting to take the fatalistic view that all we can do is batten down the hatches and wait for the storm to pass.  This view, however, underestimates the real impact that public policy has. 

A golden thread runs through modern civilisation – a hypothesis remains a hypothesis unless the evidence proves it is science.

The world is dangerous. If we aren’t being attacked by leaky fishing boats or sneezing pigs, then we need to worry about radical capitalism and global warming.
