Controversial and sometimes "pugnacious" sociologist Professor Frank Furedi will speak exclusively for CIS at Melbourne's Treasury Theatre on the decline of tolerance in the West and the impact this has on free speech. On the back of the Andrew Bolt court case we expect a robust conversation between Melburnians and Professor Furedi on the hypocrisy of tolerating intolerance in what is supposedly a free society.

Professor Furedi is a respected sociologist at the University of Kent in Canterbury, England, and a well-known media commentator. He writes regularly for publications such as The Guardian and The Australian, and is the author of numerous books including Culture of Fear, Where Have All The Intellectuals Gone?, Paranoid Parenting, Therapy Culture, and On Tolerance: In Defence of Moral Independence.
