CIS researchers Robert Carling, Adam Creighton, Jessica Brown and Dr Oliver Marc Hartwich will give their verdict on the budget 2011 at this special event. The government is already preparing us for a tough budget with little room for manoeuvring, some extra taxes and duties and potentially a few cuts. But what are the larger implications of the government’s fiscal plans? Is a return to surplus still possible by 2013? Will the government take the razor to welfare as promised, or will ‘working families’ again  be the main beneficiaries of taxpayers’ largesse? And what are the structural issues of the Australian economy that the government still needs to address? Join us for a topical discussion.
